Linux has a long way to go before it will beat MSFT. It could give them a run for the money in the server area against NT for some applications. I can't see it happening on the desktop. Windows is fairly easy to install and has the programs people want to run. For the technically inclined it's neat to play with on a spare machine. My main machines still run variations of Windows because the programs I want (need) to run are Windows based.
