Armin, thanks for responding. No reason to be embarrassed...we all learned together that Brazilian stocks trade on hysteria rather than any semblance of fundamentals. UBB looks to potentially offer greater risk/reward than TBR at the moment. The stock is up what, 150% or so in the last couple weeks? I think next week may see it over 20...a convincing break of 20 should get it to 25 pretty quick. Actually looks to be pretty clear sailing all the way to 36 from 20.

Another possible play is some April '99 20C. I understand the state run banks are going to be privatized (yes! privatization...riches for all) in the first half of '99. Assuming a continued trend of stability, this bank privatization is likely to boost private bank shares in the process.

Hope to see ya hanging around Armin. Let's think positive towards the Sau Paulo governor second round vote tomorrow. Come early next week, there will be no excuse if the news doesn't start flying. Hopefully TBR and UBB also.
