AOL is were intel and microsoft were in 1985 just babies.

No, AOL is where Apple was in 1994 or so. (In this analogy the Web is Win3.1, while Win95 is still on the horizon). AOL may still rise for awhile, but the greater growth of its open standards competitor (the Internet) will eventually slaughter it, unless it changes its ways.
