Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) unveiled its new Snapdragon X Plus chip for PCs on Wednesday, while stating that its previously announced Snapdragon X Elite will be available in the middle of the year.

The new Snapdragon X Plus comes with 10 core Qualcomm Oryon CPU and a 45 TOPS neural processing unit, which the company claims is the fastest NPU for Windows ( MSFT) laptops in the world.

Shares rose around 1% in early trading on Wednesday.

“Snapdragon X Series platforms deliver leading experiences and are positioned to revolutionize the PC industry,” Qualcomm executive Kedar Kondap said in a statement. “Snapdragon X Plus will power AI-Supercharged PCs that enable even more users to excel as radical new AI experiences emerge in this period of rapid development and deployment.”

The new chips could match the performance of Apple's ( AAPL) M3, Intel's ( INTC) Core Ultra 9 and AMD's ( AMD) Ryzen 9, The Verge reported.

Qualcomm said PCs using the Snapdragon X Plus and the Snapdragon X Elite, which was unveiled in October, will be available from PC makers starting in the middle of the year.

San Diego-based Qualcomm is slated to report fiscal second-quarter results after the close of trading on May 1. A consensus of analysts expect the company will earn $2.31 per share on $9.33B in revenue.
