Birim Recommences Drilling on the Tombe-Parabu North Gold Zone, Ghana: Bui District Reconnaissance Program Continues

MONTREAL, CANADA--Birim Goldfields Inc. ("Birim") (BGI:TSX) is pleased to announce that drilling has recommenced on its recently discovered Tombe-Parabu North gold zone located on the Company's Bui District Property in Ghana.
"We are very excited by the potential of our new gold discovery," said Mr. Denis Simoneau, President and CEO of Birim. "The current drill program should allow us to determine the scope of the mineralized system, which already shows similarities with other gold mineralisation found along the productive Ashanti belt to the south."
Initially, a series of reverse circulation (RC) drill holes will be drilled to extend the strike length of the known mineralized system, which is open to the north and partially to the south. Results warranting, the program will be followed up with diamond drilling to define the mineralized system at depth.
Table 1 outlines the results from the three reverse circulation drill holes, which intersected the mineralized zone over a 150-metre strike length.

Presently, the Company is in good financial position to continue to define the extent of the Tombe-Parabu gold discovery as well as pursue further target definition which will include thousands of metres of trenching and more than 10,000 metres of reverse circulation drilling on the numerous, untested gold targets defined on its massive 7,000 sq. km. Bui District concessions.
Two large-scale geochemical soil sampling programs are also currently in progress at Bui. The 3,000-sample Tainso gold-in-soil program aggressively targets significant stream geochemical gold anomalism and is near completion. At Kuri, a 2,200 sample grid is still being established to define the gold anomaly associated with the highly prospective margins of Dixcove granitoid intrusives. The Kuri program had previously been delayed due to the presence of excessive but seasonal vegetation growth. Results for the Tainso and Kuri programs are expected in March and May respectively.
