Emil, thanks for re-posting the Sony tape story. This confirms something that I thought I heard during the conference call, but wasn't sure I heard right.

The 2GB Ditto drive, sold by Iomega and Sony, uses a proprietary tape format. When I first saw the announcements about it, I just assumed it was another Travan unit.

This is significant because Iomega is steadily increasing market share in tape drives (up 16% in sales from last quarter). So if this drive uses a proprietary tape, then it's another razors and blades product, not just a commodity.

The 2GB capacity seems to be a pretty good spot to hit, especially given the price. Chances are these drives and tapes will contribute significantly to the bottom line over time.
