The vast majority of favored au hoard are comprised of coins, and they are easier to check should the necessity arise.

Almost all pgm hoard are serial numbered w/ certificate and invoice / receipt from bank.

As the physical hoard is not for selling except in emergency direness-reset triggered by bad mcro or bad luck, but for passing along, am not concerned about selling in very liquid hong kong - I was present when others sold and there didn't seem to be great difficulty selling back to the entity originally bought from, receipts in hand.

My planned exit at end of gold's largess mostly involve selling of papers then still in hand, and perhaps the coins of no numismatic value, and convert all to pgm goodness, for the next generation's hoarding start. I think savings is a good habit, traditional is superior.

I distinguish savings / hoarding from investment / speculation.
