myron,

to quote from my linked post, "i told netscape that it wasn't my default browser anymore. (i think this is accomplished by telling msie to check every time to see if it is the default browser.) by telling msie to check, that told netscape to check. so now i get that dialog box every time i open the browser. i never give it the answer it wants ("yes, you can be my browser")."

first i had to tell ie it was my default. that is what really makes netscape check. open ie, then click 'tools', then 'internet options'. select the 'programs' tab. at the bottom of the dialog you'll see the box to check to make ie ask you. check it and hit 'apply' and ok. next time you open ie it will check. you can then say yes (to make ie your default). this should trigger the netscape dialog that asks. but you're not done. if you want to be truly without a default browser, you must then go back to the internet tools program tab and once again check the box to make ie ask (remember 'apply' and ok). then tell it no when it asks. now.... unless i've got this all mixed up <g3> you should have both browsers asking you if you'd like to make them your default.

remember, i'm only suggesting this because it seems to have cut way down on my netscape crashes. point being that some people feel that ms may deliberately create probs for default netscape browsers. and that may or may not be correct.

works for me.

:)
