"I've always been curious as to why any intelligent person would attempt to debate scientific facts such as gravity, evolution, plate tectonics, the boiling point of ammonia, or WHATEVER with those who subscribe to the myths and rituals of illiterate, bronze-age, nomadic goat-herders who practiced ancient Judaism, and are now retold via the modern cults and incarnations of that religion (Islam, Christianity, and modern Judaism)."
I love that sentence! You are, of course, quite right. But there are still at least three valid reasons to keep reason out on the field:
1). It is necessary for the survival of humankind
2). It is anti-aging and fun at the same time, and
3). Misguided people with fundamentally sound minds require some encouragement to think outside of their box and to escape the superstitious environment in which they have placed themselves or in which they have been placed. And human minds are valuable. Many of these converts to reason have done great works in the world.
