Amy, Re: "others just blame the easiest target that will get them the most mileage."
Hi Paul,
Is Gateway an easy target?
Gateway is an easy loose cannon, it is beginning to sound like. I can't believe that Intel didn't allocate parts equally fairly, to the best of their ability, among their tier one customers. Maybe Gateway made an attempt to go to the just-in-time, no inventory model, kind of like Dell, but it isn't as simple as pie. You have to watch the supply situation daily. This is like Paul said, that Gateway wanted Intel to hold the chip inventory, instead of Gateway. Let's see how Dell's quarter is reported in Feb., although, as I recall, they did some public complaining about the supply situation as well.
I see GTW moving back up, based on analysts' recommendations that it's a one-time thing with GTW. With Ted Waite moving on and this big miss, and the loose cannon talk, they're on my avoid list. That and $2.50 will get you a cup of (Starbuck's) coffee.
