The other day one of my six displays on my main work station faded to almost black. I attempted to do the regular 5 cap replace in the power supply board, but do to the history of this display it failed. A crappy refurb by samsung way back led to other problems in disassembly. but as I had to disassemble my center monitors I also decided while the system was down to move one display of the center pair from my 4 display win 7 to my 2 display linux.

When I powered it up the fvwm window manager automatically arranged the diplays into an L shaped desk which was what I wanted. I then repaired another display and added it and the display because a 2x2 square or a desk of 3200x2400. Anyway I thought is was interesting how xinit /usr/bin/fvwm2 started the windows manager and configured the display in a rational way with no imput from me. Win 7 just dropped form 2x2 to 1x2 but was simply fixed manually with display preference.
