To all, Some Cook County news, Dated sometime around the 4th of July... <excerpt>"Police Department to Use Electronic Fingerprinting The Village of Bartlett approved the purchase of a Livescan computerized fingerprinting system. This system grew out of a Cook County program to equip as many police departments as possible with the ability to electronically fingerprint and photograph an arrestee. The benefits to the community are many. Livescan will allow the police department to instantaneously identify arrestees. In the past the department would fingerprint people, take it to a department in another community and use a specialized fax machine with the ability to transmit the tiny ridges of fingerprints and wait anywhere from two to six hours for identification results. The entire system will cost in excess of $80,000 to install. Thanks to a grant and intergovernmental agreement with Cook County, the cost to the Village of Bartlett is only $20,000." village.bartlett.il.us steve
