Alliance Semiconductor Announces Successful Qualification for Automotive Industry; PulseCore EMI Suppression ICs Undergo Auto Industry's Rigorous Tests
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2002--Alliance Semiconductor Corporation (Nasdaq:ALSC) today announced the qualification of its PulseCore product line of general purpose electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction ICs for the automotive industry. This qualification is based on the successful completion of product tests performed under extreme operating conditions and designed specifically for the automotive industry.
Worldwide regulatory associations mandate that all electronic products must be Electromagnetic Compatible (EMC). The automotive industry has traditionally used conventional and engineering intensive methods to comply with EMC standards. Alliance's general purpose EMI reduction IC provides a truly scientific methodology that ensures successful compliance.
"The widespread use of electronic devices especially in the embedded control modules in automobiles has increased the automotive industry's need to meet EMC standards in a predictable, cost effective way," said Alliance chairman, president and CEO, N.D. Reddy. "Our PulseCore product line has pioneered a solution for EMC that significantly reduces product cost and time-to-market while offering automakers greater assurance that products are FCC compliant."
Alliance's solution for EMC includes a family of ICs using Spread Spectrum Modulation (SSM) and EMI-LATOR(TM), a proprietary method to perform the desired modulation. SSM is a means of distributing the energy originally concentrated at one frequency over a wider band, which reduces peak emissions. The frequency source is slowly modulated between two frequency boundaries thereby dramatically reducing EMI and offering a more predictable EMC compliance. Narendar Venugopal, VP and General Manager of Alliance's mixed-signal product line, said, "Alliance's PulseCore product line is already a strong player in the digital consumer and PC peripheral markets, selling to Samsung, LG Phillips, Panasonic, Fujitsu and others. Penetrating the automotive market is a natural next step in providing a sophisticated and cost-effective approach for all electronic part manufacturers to meet government regulations."
Alliance's market insight for next-generation technology led to the acquisition of mixed-signal product leader, PulseCore, Inc., in 2001. This acquisition expanded Alliance's product line to include mixed-signal products that provide solutions for EMI management. |
