What version of Norton are we talking about? I'm using Systemworks2000 and live update button on the opening screen scans all of Norton and then gives you the option of updating each program by putting in a checkmark. Am I just missing something or have they already implemented Gottfried's suggestion in this version?

From help files: Introducing LiveUpdate

Symantec's LiveUpdate technology makes it easy to keep Norton SystemWorks and your virus definition files up-to-date. LiveUpdate uses your computer's modem or Internet connection to download updates directly from Symantec.
Run LiveUpdate once a month to see if there are updates to Norton SystemWorks or if there are new virus definitions available. It is particularly important to have the latest virus definitions. The Norton AntiVirus scheduler can run LiveUpdate automatically to update the virus definitions.

Run LiveUpdate from Norton SystemWorks, or from any of the Norton SystemWorks programs.

You do not need an Internet connection or a subscription to Norton Web Services to update Norton SystemWorks and virus definition files. If your computer has a modem, Norton SystemWorks' built-in LiveUpdate technology can get this information directly from Symantec.
If you have an Internet connection, you can keep all your software applications and hardware drivers up-to-date with LiveUpdate Pro, a program available from Norton Web Services. You receive a free, limited-time subscription to Norton Web Services when you buy Norton SystemWorks.
