That's a shame. & with something like that so much can depend on where we live. Sad to think of teachers being like expensive cities or suburbs that have to have people from outside come in to serve their food, or even to be their fire fighters etc.
My niece did a year at a tutoring place, which she enjoyed and I think learned a lot from the experience. She has now landed a job at a school. Money wise, no idea of salary, but she's in the position of being single and being able to build towards the future. She's lived at home this last year, not sure what her plans are in terms of that now. She has a very good relationship with her parents and is one of those who does cooking for all part of time and cleaning, plus takes care of her own stuff, so not a drain in that way. Some people talk as if young people doing that is just awful, but to me it's such a sensible thing. Not all families get along well enough, or parents realize their kids are now adults, or some kids realize it doesn't mean you get your laundry and food done for you, but overall it's sensible, not something to be embarrassed about or think it means civilization is ending.
Course I know many young women who couldn't bear it. I don't know if it's more common than with sons, but are plenty of parents still far too nosy and restrictive about daughters. |
