qcoman,

The financial problems in the telecom industry are the final ingredient needed to ensure that the Q is, and will continue, to win the battles being waged over the choice of next generation wireless technologies. In and of itself, providing the most efficient path to 3G would not have been enough to ensure worldwide dominance by the Q. The financial problems that you are concerned about virtually guarantees that the time-to-market lead now enjoyed by the Q will only increase not decrease. While the GSM cabal concentrates on getting a round peg to fit into a square hole (gprs), the Q continues to forge ahead and improve on their existing cdma technology and path. The likelihood that 3G wireless will come to be dominated by cdma2000 and not W-CDMA is increasing every day.
