Ken: I have been predicting that Iomega will get into the CD-R (recordable) arena. (perhaps at Comdex) You say "Too late. Already 10+ major players here.. Some with REAL money"

Not so. (the part about too late.) You might as well tell Iomega to throw away their Ditto line! Selling Iomega brand CD-R drives and media is another way to capitalize on Iomega name. They don't even have to *develope* anything. They could just private lable the Matsushita CD-R.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not predicting that anything Iomega does in the CD area will give them the kind of monopoly they have in the mega-floppy. But it doesn't have to be a monopoly to make money.

The Ditto competes with Hewlette Packard and Seagate. Two BIG companies. Yet, it competes WELL. In CD-R, it would compete with HP and Panasonic (Matsushita). OK, FINE. Compete! Hell, ten million here, a hundred milion there. Who knows? It could add up to some real money. :-)

Remember, this is a Removable Storage Marketting Company. It doesn't always have to have proprietary technology to make money.
