Stereotaxis: Color on preannouncement (11.39)

ThinkEquity notes that STXS preannounced a disappointing 4Q07, throwing the
blame on the delayed approval of the irrigated catheter, and stating how the
now approved catheter will turn the co around. The firm thinks otherwise,
saying they believe 4Q is a signal of a general lack of interest, and they
believe that the new catheter will not generate enough interest to save the co
from another dilutive financing. Reits Sell and $7 tgt... Needham says that
based upon our 39 physician survey, they are convinced that robotic navigation surgery will become standard of care for the treatment of complex arrhythmias
and other cardiac diseases. They note the worldwide markets for robotic
navigation systems are huge, representing an initial $1 bln opportunity and
growing as system placements increase and new indications for robotic
navigation technology emerge. Firm says catalysts include: 1) partner JNJ's
pending U.S. approval for the irrigated tip catheter, 2) chronic total
occlusion product development news, and 3) launch of the Odyssey online
consultation software. They also say STXS could be an attractive acquisition
target. Firm cuts their tgt to $14 from $16.
