ery Wrong Thinking ...

... and with all due I can't dignify that statement with a JMHO.

<< Maybe wrong thinking, but I'd say XP is more secure because it's been thoroughly examined and tested by every hacker in the world for many years. I'll assume there aren't any vulnerabilities left that are undiscovered ... >>

Lots of vulnerabilities there (and no doubt some additional more to be found) but virtually nothing to protect the XP user from a hacker or other users he unthinkingly victimizes. Ideally anybody running XP today is doing so primarily offline and not uploading files or emailing the vulnerable users of other newer systems that may not be adequately protected and putting recipients at risk.

<< Win10 is a wide open new world for hackers to explore is it not? >>

It is certainly wide open to explore and adventurous black hats are only one step behind the coders and the white hats but XP is still wide open for exploit and Win 7 is not all that far behind and is the big target. As XP usage share shrinks Win7 share is actually growing. Vista not so much because of the small user base but it's certainly very exploitable. The high end Internet Security packages still do a very adequate job of protecting Win 7 users but the user base is still huge and consequently they are the principle target of hackers. Win 8.1/10 users are the least susceptible (assuming they take adequate steps to protect their systems) and not just because the combined user base is smaller than Win 7.
