I quickly broused an article in one of my technical power plant type magazines the other day. Don't quote me but per recollection:

- there are no nuclear power plants under construction in the US. Maybe one in the early stages of permitting. Main point, very little activity in this area. Will be a long time before any new nuclear plants generate electricity in this country.

- coal fired plant permitting and other activity in this area does not indicate a huge increase of future activity in this area either.

- the activity seems to remain in the natural gas fired type plants, utilizing large modern gas turbines in cogen or combined cycle operations.

- this article did not mention alternative energy, but imo if the NAZ shoots up, this sector will help fuel the rise. It is time for it to come into its own. I follow some of these stocks and will make some LT investments, probably not too far down the road.

T Boone is an interesting character. I've enjoyed listening to him on TV. I think he is an example of why America is great ... we have people like him who reinvest in America, instead of moving their money to foreign shores.

I toured a small combined heat and power type plant on the east coast recently. I was a bit surprised at the plant efficiency. They preferred running on natural gas, and in this configuration the efficiency was pushing 80 %. Higher than I thought possible. The stack effluent was environmentally very clean, in the relative sense. This plant was right smack in the middle of a major East Coast city, in the down town area. Most would never know it was a power plant, by driving by.

I would like to tour a large wind farm and go up into one of the large wind turbines. I have looked at the design details of some on the net (GE for example). Just a machine but interesting none the less.
