i'm not an engineer, but in my experience, the answer is no. if a chip isn't doa, it will most likely run forever, barring overheating. maybe you could measure doa rates, or failure rates in inadequately cooled environments, but neither of those is of any concern to most people. i have never heard of a cpu dying in the line of duty unless there was an abnormal heat situation. if reliability is what you mean by "quality," then no, i don't think there's any difference. in my personal experience, i have had all three brands in my computers, and, like the vast majority of users, haven't experienced any problems.

there is, however, a big quality difference among the stocks of the three companies. :-)
