"Precautions you should take service1.symantec.com These are some precautions you can take to protect your computer: Do not open any email attachments that have a .vbs extension. If you do not need the functionality provided by the Windows Scripting Host, then you may want to uninstall it. This will prevent the worm from running on your system. Please see How to uninstall the Windows Scripting Host service1.symantec.com for detailed instructions.
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. Click the Windows Setup or the Windows NT Setup tab. 4. Double-click Accessories. 5. Scroll down, if necessary, and locate the Windows Scripting Host. If it is not in the Accessories list, it is not installed. Cancel all dialog boxes, and then close the Control Panel. If it is in the Accessories list, select it and note whether it is checked or unchecked. If it is not checked, it is not installed. Cancel all dialog boxes and close the Control Panel. If it is checked, uncheck it, click OK, and then click OK again. Close the Control Panel."
[ i have removed the windows scripting host from my pc upon reading this symantec bulletin. it's super easy to do and i have not encountered any glitches for having done so. as always, your mileage may vary <g3> ]
