That's amazing...I can't believe it was almost four years ago either.

I must say that I do take some comfort in the fact that all of my Y2K preparation has at least left me very well prepared for the occasional "power outage of the century".

Of course, none of us can prepare for the possibility that we might be one of the poor souls who were stuck in the subway or stranded miles from home, but at least we know that, once in our homes, we're still as prepared as we possibly can be should there be a loss of power or water or heat for whatever length of time for whatever reason.

911 has left us even more prepared. Whenever I travel, I have a small, lightweight flashlight ever with me. I don't want to be dependent on emergency lighting in an office building or hotel should the power go out while I'm on the 25th floor.

And now, just for fun: how about a roll call? Who else still has this thread bookmarked?
