Could someone explain this to me. Since this is Shep's favorite quote perhaps he would clue me in.
What the heck does this mean? Why is a free society with a few rich unable to help the many who are poor? If it is unable to help the many who are poor what does that have to do with it being unable to save the few who are rich? From what do the few that are rich need to be saved? What is the connection between what is on the left of the comma and what is on the right of the comma? I think it is nonsense.
I guess it sounded good to poor people when spoken with a Massachusetts accent. But really it is just nonsense.
I guess that is why it is Shep's favorite quote. Most of what he says is also nonsense.

""If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich" - JFK"
