They have the CEOs of Excite, Lycos, etc. on CNBC. They're saying that web commerce will be "explosive" in the sense that companies will be willing to offer revenue/earnings sharing with the search engines or web facilitators. This is interesting. Does anyone remember way back in the eighties when NY (perhaps other cities as well) real estate was making the same types of deals with their RE leases? Location, location, location. Remember what happened to RE prices soon after that? I'm not saying it's an exact correlation, but at the time RE and the leases were valued with some pretty convoluted models. The way some talk of the internet, it's a wonder we were able to get along without it.
