Pavlov, the Ashton thread used to be so peaceful, but now it's just loaded with greedy people who don't know how to read.
The ol' bull is getting long in the tooth, and there are going to be a few more of these obvious short plays before it's all over. I see ZITL is not quite dead yet!
Online Gaming is taking the fancy of investors...we'll see a few speculative bubbles in that non-event this year.
It doesn't really cheer me up to go short but I now realize the logic...since resource stock promoters get you to buy their worthless paper and you lose money 90% of the time (you can win, if you really understand what you are getting and get in early), you can make money by going short when valuations just don't make any sense. Worthless paper eventually returns to being worthless paper, if you have deep pockets and patience. Most of the Alberta area plays will be excellent shorts. But I would not want to jump in too early.
I try to buy stock when no one is talking about it. Remember, Southernera went to $0.80 and everyone said "sell it"!
Admittedly, most of the Ashton longs are making all the money, and most of the greedy people who buy into worthless area plays will make money AT FIRST. And good for them. But I am trying to train myself to invest, at least more often, in things with some underlying value.
In sum, for a short term play or two I will be looking at NCS, ACA, and some Online Gaming stuff. But I think maybe it would be better to wait a bit on some of them. On the long side I have a feeling about Noble Peak (ASE:NPK), they might be hitting a rich vein in Africa. If the stock starts to run, grab some! |
