........this is what i call the long bottom. but if you take a look at CCI 5-10 years ago you can see that when banks get beat up they can languish for quite a while.

.......the japanese are taking action, just slowly and methodically. for them, allowing the foreigners to buy banks and brokerages is a big deal--even the open skies and ports (albeit small changes) is big for them.

......CCI is now doing 24 hour banking--watch for the japanese banks to follow--they are competitive folks when allowed.

......the fact that deregulation is going to be strongest in the financial arena means to me that these may be the first stocks to stabilize. don't forget that it may take 6 months to see some improvement in balance sheets because they will show some real losses this spring due to problem loans in asia.

........if i was more patient i would wait a few more months. but when you can buy the largest bank in a deregulating industry for $12-14 that to me is value--and i am willing to hold it for a few years--so what's a few months?
