Through December 3, 1998

VocalTec Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: VOCLF), the IP
communications company, today announced that the VocalTec
Ensemble Architecture' (VEA) will be used to demonstrate realtime
voice traffic over an IP backbone to a Comcast headend during the
CableNet 98 Demo at the Western Cable Show.

The demonstration will feature the VocalTec Gatekeeper(TM), the
VocalTec Telephony Gateway(TM) and a new beta version of the
VocalTec Internet Phone(R) Lite(TM) to enable show attendees to call
from a PC or regular phone over a high capacity IP network to another
PC or regular phone connected to Comcast's cable network. The
Western Cable Show is being held through December 3 at the Anaheim
Convention Center in California.

robustness of VEA as a platform for the delivery of IP telephony
services. By working with VocalTec for CableNet98, Comcast is
showing that cable, through its PacketCable efforts, is preparing to be a
major force in the VoIP industry."

In a separate demonstration at the CableNet 98 Demo, VocalTec will
showcase the VocalTec Gatekeeper interoperating with other VoIP
vendors' gateways and intelligent end unit devices over an IP cable
network. Spearheaded by CableLabs' PacketCable interoperability
initiative, this demonstration is part of the largest vendor
interoperability demonstration for Voice over IP (VoIP) products.
CableLabs is a research and development consortium of cable
television system operators. The VocalTec Gatekeeper enables
scalability, manageability and enhanced IP telephony services by acting
as the chief control point for queries from other IP telephony network
components regarding the direction, tracking and billing of traffic.

Internet Phone Lite is a software application (less than 2MB) that
