EVENT TRADES 1) Split announcements in real-time or screen for after hours announcements to play the next day 2) Split payables Go long 2-3 days prior to the split X-date in anticipation of run-up. Hold thru the X-date if opening gap-up close if gap-down 3) Take over announcements Go long the stock of the "acquiring company" during first 2 days post announcement. Two reasons this works..selling pressure from risk-arb is over and analysts often re-assess merits of merger favorably within 48 hrs 4) Scan Yahoo news for following word strings: "FDA approves" "dutch auction" "New idication" "Opening delay" "splits" "share buyback" "research alert"
