I remember my English professor (many moons ago), a little old lady that could not stomach people who said: "more importantly" rather than the correct way: "more important". I can't remember why this is wrong but I know it is wrong and EVERYONE says this, especially the folks who talk on TV. I think it has something to do with two adverbs next to each other????

What bothers me is that it came to my attention. If I would have never learned that from my prof, I wouldn't get so darned upset when people say it, but I just can't stop noticing. -g-
