Exsqueeze me, Baking Powder? It is a well known fact that practically every middle class or higher family's son either went to college or medical school or had their dad get them into the National Guard in order to avoid going to Vietnam. I went to medical school, and I've been paying for it ever since. I hate medicine. LBJ made the policy of college deferments; our generation didn't. Granted it was the single most corrupt element of the Vietnam war. But I'm not going to fault anyone who took advantage of it.

In fact, in the civil war, one could pay someone to take your place.

Though I was never in the armed forces, I regale my children with tales of doing black ops for the CIA in the Cambodian (or is it Laotian) highlands. I tell them I was in Nung Chuk, Cambodia, just to make it all the more ludicrous. Naturally, I also tell them I can't reveal more because it is still classified information. They realize their dad is an idiot!
