To all newcomers: OK, I will kick it off with my thoughts on the internet stocks. First of all, I am retired so I must try and invest more conservatively than many of you, on the other hand I like to make some real money also. So I try and figure angles. In the case of the Internets, I am immediately reminded of the California Gold rush. During that time many people came to Calif. as Miners but very few actually struck it rich. However, a number of people came to service the miners. Many of them did very well. I think that the same will hold true of the Internet. The internet, I am willing to state will probably be the biggest technological revolution in our lifetimes. Why, because communication is one of the most basic human needs. I think the surface has only been scratched in this field. Problem is to determine who will last and grow and who will be a flash in the pan. I have invested in the infrastructure portion of this new field. It is my believe that companies such as SUNW and EMC will do very well and will have staying power to just grow and grow with the internet. For that reason, I began buying both over a year ago adding steadily on any dips. Needless to say I am up a great deal. The beauty of it to me is that I dont have to sell them and look for more. I think they still have a long way to run. Anyone who has been investing for a long time will agree with me that it is VERY difficult to find really outstanding companies. Many times you will find a good product, but management will be lacking or financial resources insufficient. So when I find a good one, I like to hang on to it. I think these two qualify. Thoughts anyone? JDN
