Because of the asset sales that have occurred this year, Equus is expected to declare a dividend of around $3.75 per share. The calculation assumes no further capital gains between now and the end of the fiscal year in October, and also no losses. The $3.75 figure also assumes that all capital gains are distributed as they have been in the past. The dividend, which would be paid in December, is taxable at the capital gains rate which is lower than an the rate on ordinary dividends.


EQS closed at 16 3/16 today.
