I have been invested in semiconductor testers and test handlers for over 14 years. The hard part of owning these stocks is to manage the huge swings which go the way of the underlying industry. I am hopeful that "A" will be able to balance the medical test equip with other semi test equipment. The margins seem to be good in both sectors and a blue chip with some balnace may be in the making here.

Many companies have high margin subsidiaries (making test equipment) not in their core competency.Agilent with IPO monies and stock could well add to their already impressive stable.Examples of these acquisitions could be :

Schlumberge test equipment (they make most of intels testers)
Terradyne worlds largest semiconductor test mfr.
Cohu the largest domestic maker of test handlers
Plus a whole new world of medical test makers - here's where I need some help any medical techies out there??

What's neat about test equipment is that they are needed by all IC's - I see a future world with many more of these to come. I also see a world of aging boomers with many more needs from medical test equipment. JMHO
