I'll go first. One of my favorite movies, maybe my FAVORITE movie of all time is Babette's Feast. First because of the humanity of this movie. It deals with love, both for family and romantic love, as well as the love we bear for humanity. It deals with duty- the duty that we owe to others and that which we owe ourselves. It touches upon sacrifice, redemption, and the nobleness of the human spirit. And also, very interestingly to me, how that nobleness of spirit needs to be nurtured- and nurtured by things as seemingly mundane as food. It's a great movie. And it has a wonderful humanist message. It makes me feel good every time I watch it.
