Northgate Exploration Limited: Hole KN-01-11 Intercepts 100 Metres of 0.60% Copper and 1.54 GPT of Gold
Best Intersection to Date at Kemess North
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Northgate Exploration Limited (TSE:NGX <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ngx.to&d=t> - news </n/ca/n/ngx.html>) announced today the best hole so far in its 2001 exploration program at Kemess North. Hole KN-01-11, for which assays were pending at the time of the previous news release dated September 13, 2001, intersected additional higher grade mineralization. The assays for the previous nine holes of the 2001 program were reported in last week's news release and are listed in the attached table. The results for hole KN-01-11 are shown below.
Hole Interval Length (m) Cu (%)* Au (gpt)*

KN-01-11 146.3-394.3 248.0 0.40 0.91
Including 246.3-394.3 146.0 0.53 1.30
Including 294.3-394.3 100.0 0.60 1.54

``Hole KN-01-11 had originally been planned as the last hole in the 2001 drill program at Kemess North'' stated Ken Stowe, President and C.E.O. ``However, the very positive results in holes KN-01-10 and -11 have caused us to expand the program by several holes. Weather permitting, we will continue drilling to the end of October with the objective of delineating the expanding high grade zone. Hole KN-01-11 continues to confirm the trend of increasing grades and gold/copper ratios as the drilling has moved to the north-east of the year 2000 exploration program target area.''
The diamond drill program is being managed by the Kemess Mine's geological team headed by Mike Hibbitts, Chief Geologist and Project Coordinator. All assays were performed by Bondar Clegg Canada in Vancouver.
Northgate is a substantial mid-tier gold mining company whose premier asset, the Kemess South Mine in north central British Columbia, will produce an average of 260,000 ounces of gold and 74 million pounds of copper over its remaining 8-year mine life.
This news release contains certain forward-looking statements that reflect the current views and/or expectations of Northgate Exploration Limited with respect to its performance, business and future events.
