19:00 Oct-22-01, 5 Heshvan 5762 PA Security Officials Assisted Ze’evi Assassin in Escaping (IsraelNationalNews.com) Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Monday announced that a branch of the PA security services actively assisted one of the assassins of Minster Rechavam Ze’evi to flee Israeli authorities and make his way to an area under PA control. Sharon added that Israel is not under pressure regarding ongoing activities in PA areas, adding not everyone is ecstatic over the actions but nevertheless aware of the realization that Arafat and the PA are responsible for the ongoing terror. Mr. Sharon added that Israel remains ready to return to the negotiating table and is committed to bringing peace to the region but the PA must first comply with three basic demands: 1) A total cessation of terror attacks and incitement, 2) Dismantling the terrorist infrastructure, 3) The arrest and extradition of the assassins responsible for the murder of the government minister.
