TOM EXPLORATION INC ("TUM-V") - Kelly Lake and Tyranda Results
Tom Exploration Inc. is pleased to announce that the Company received additional assay results for Nickel-Copper- PGE-Cobalt for hole K-02-121 from its drilling program on the extension of its Kelly Lake property.

KELLY LAKE PROPERTY

The Temiscamingue land package of Tom Exploration Inc. regroups a total of over 4,000 hectares in the Sudbury-Belleterre Copper-Nickel-PGE belt.

Hole K-02-121 intersected the following mineralised ore zone from 95.5 to 101.5 metres (6 metres or 19.5 feet):

Nickel 0.413%

Platinum

0.15 g/t

Copper 0.36%

Palladium

0.12 g/t

Cobalt 0.021%

Hole K-02-121 was drilled on the same section than hole K-02-120. Hole K- 02-120 intersected one mineralized zone and returned 12 metres (39.12 feet) grading 1.364% Cu-Ni combined, 0.046% Co. and 0.95 gr/t Pt-Pd combined and was spotted 60 metres (200 feet) to the east of the holes K-02-116 and K-02-117. Hole K-02-116 returned 0.64% Cu, 0.77% Ni, 0.049% Co, 0.40 g/t Pd, 0.47 g/t Pt and 0.065 g/t Au over 10.3 metres (33.79 feet) Press release (PR) February 22, 2002. Hole K-02-117 returned 1.01% Ni, 0.63% Cu, 0.051% Co, 0.44 g/t Pt, 0.49 g/t Pd and 3.5 g/t Ag over 14.8 metres (48.54 feet) PR-March 8, 2002.

This is the sixth positive result of a hole drilled in a zone thought to be an extension of the already known Kelly Lake deposit. The Cu-Ni combined grade and tonnage for the Kelly deposit calculated by Regcourt Mines in 1959 is 2,200,000 tons resources grading 1.4% (source: MRN, Special Study, 1967). That tonnage has never been assayed for the platinum group elements and cobalt. All assaying is being completed at Les Laboratoires XRAL of Rouyn- Noranda. The laboratory is running its own internal precision analysis.

TYRANDA PROPERTY

Tom Exploration will be drilling the Tyranda property on July 3, 2002, in Rand and Lampliegh townships Ontario in the Timmins mining camp. The property is located as it is within 100 km of the Falconbridge Kidd Creek Cu-Zn smelter.

The Kidd-Munro assemblage of rocks that underlie the Tyranda property host the Kidd Creek deposit near Timmins, about 115 km west of the Tyranda property, and the Potter and Potterdale mines in Munro Township, about 20 km west of the Tyranda property. There are eighteen volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits or occurrences in the Kidd-Munro and correlative assemblages in the region. The Kidd Creek mine is the largest with mined and existing reserves of 138,700,000 tonnes at 2.35% Cu, 6.50% Zn, 0.23% Pb and 89 g/t Ag (Dane A Bridge Consulting, Tyranda Property, Rand Township, Ontario, October, 2001).

The felsic portion of the Kidd-Munro assemblage in the vicinity of Rand Township had previously been interpreted as tholeiitic basalts of the Stoughton-Roquemaure assemblage due to rare outcrop and a low magnetic response. Consequently the volcanogenic massive sulphide potential of some INPUT anomalies had been ignored. The property has a previously unknown outcrop of rhyodacite tuff. A 2.8 km long zinc-lead geochemical anomaly with above background copper values coincides approximately with a break from a relatively high magnetic response to the north to a relatively low and flat magnetic response to the south. The break in magnetic responses correlates with tholeiitic basalt of the Stoughton-Roquemaure assemblage to the north and felsic volcanic rocks of the Kidd-Munro assemblage to the south.

The project has been envisaged as a grass roots type of project with a great deal of upside potential. Both the Geophysical and Geochemical work conducted to date have yielded anomalies that when interpreted along with the known surface geology lead one to believe the possibility of a major base metal sulfide occurrence.
