I saw this on some show, probably Extreme Engineering or Modern Marvels some time ago and found this unbelievable machine crossing a road in Germany: a bucket wheel excavator. gadgetopia.com Click on the different pics for larger examples. I wanted to see if I could find them on Google earth. If your type in "Garzweiler, Germany," you can see them just a little south of the town where a huge open surface mine can be seen. If you zoom in on it, you can see some spread around. Pretty cool.
