L-3Communications Leverages VeriBest Tools and Design Expertise To Streamline Design Process and Build Component Library

BOULDER, Colo., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- VeriBest(R), Inc. (VeriBest), the leading provider of EDA systems solutions for Microsoft(R) Windows NT(R), has been selected by Communication Systems-West, the Salt Lake City, Utah-based division of L-3 Communications Holdings (L-3Com) (NYSE: LLL - news), to provide its PCB design, analysis and schematic capture tools as well as on-site training for the company's nearly 900 engineers. The current purchase consists of VeriBest tools, consulting, training and maintenance with additional software and support likely to be added later this year.

According to Barry Press, manager, design engineering at L-3Com, ''We've been able to deploy the VeriBest integrated tool suite quickly and improve our design process with on-site training and consulting. Their experienced training staff has helped our engineers immediately use the VeriBest tools productively in board designs. Even though we're still in the process of deploying the VeriBest tools, we've already seen improvements in our integration of engineering design and CCA (circuit card assembly) layout efforts.''

Hal Julsen, senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for VeriBest says, ''L-3Com recognized the inefficiency and limitations of using multiple design automation tools from different vendors. Not only did engineers face long learning curves associated with each different tool set, but transferring a design into the CCA was virtually impossible, as was building and maintaining a component library. VeriBest provided the integrated environment needed to streamline the design process and rebuild their component library.''

L-3Com has also been able to avoid additional capital equipment costs as company engineers move from UNIX workstations to PC platforms operating in the Windows NT environment. Barry Press comments, ''We are pleased that virtually all of our design work is now performed with VeriBest tools on PCs.''

Headquartered in New York City, L-3Com is an independent merchant supplier of secure communications systems and products, avionics and ocean systems, microwave products and telemetry instrumentation, space and wireless products. Its customers include the Department of Defense, selected US government intelligence agencies, aerospace and defense prime contractors and commercial telecommunications and cellular customers.

Communications Systems - West, is a leader in communication systems for intelligence collection, imagery processing and satellite communications for the defense industry.

VeriBest, Inc., is a broad-line supplier of scalable EDA systems solutions that enable customers to solve their critical business issues by doing more and spending less. VeriBest pioneered the Windows NT EDA market by introducing its VB PCB tools on that platform in June 1994 and continues to offer the best price/performance products available in the EDA industry. The company has its headquarters in Boulder, CO and development offices in Huntsville, AL and Mountain View, CA.
