Attention Business Editors:

COMAPLEX MINERALS CORP. - INCREASE IN MEADOWBANK GOLD RESOURCE

CALGARY, November 21 /CNW/ - COMAPLEX MINERALS CORP. (CMF-TSE) has been
advised by the operator, Cumberland Resources Ltd., that they have calculated
an updated gold resource for the Meadowbank project, located 75 kilometers
north of Baker Lake, N.W.T. The property is 40% owned by Comaplex under a
joint venture with Cumberland (60%).
The calculation has increased the estimated resource by 37% to 1,101,041
ounces gold (cut to 1.0 oz/ton) from their January 1996 figure of 805,673
ounces gold. Using uncut estimates from the Goose Island deposit, the project
contains an estimated 1,343,679 ounces gold. The calculation is based on
open-pit resource parameters for the Third Portage deposit and underground
parameters for the Goose Island deposit and the recently outlined North
Portage zone.
The joint venture is presently reviewing and planning its 1997 program
based on the above resources and will announce the size and scope of the
program as soon as possible.
