Probably, but law school grades are computed from a single exam at the end of the semester, and are almost universally blind-graded. The exam doesn't have a name attached to it - the grade is based on the work, not the person. More likely the student is faced, maybe for the first time, with a highly competitive environment that gives no points for minority status...
