I don't know what this means. I never mentioned "late" or "on time" during the discussion.

From what was considered a possible worst case consequence of the fight about, and delay of, extending the debt limit.

You assume that public outcry would have made it necessary to eventually make up for any missed payments. That all but certainly would have happened at some point, although it's hard to say how many months the stalwarts would have held out, or whether it would have applied to all entitlements programs rather than just the popular ones.

But this was an abstract discussion about whether the failure of the government to honor its financial commitments wrt entitlements constituted default. At least my half was. <g>
