As mentioned to Allen, I need to go back through all the Win CE posts but as to Bill Gates in general let me make one observation as an outsider to your business.

What Bill Gates has done is appeal to the lowest common denominator. That is his vision and a vision can be late arrived at and still be valid. I think what you and many folks like you despise is that technology in order to be successful has to be dumb and it has to be marketed dumb. It's sad but I think true that without Bill Gates and his like, computers would not even be in 40% of households. They needed a clear choice and WinTel gave them that, and more important it had to be marketed so that they felt they had a clear choice. Now he knows he has to go further, computers have to be dumbed down to the level of TV and household appliances in order to penetrate the rest of the market. That's why Bill Gates' interests in Internet TV, ubiquitous computing, content and bandwidth. In someways I hate it too, but like a publisher that has to publish trash in order to pay for a few quality books there are compensations.
