"But who says any Islamic country will be a superpower any time soon. There is no law that says any Islamic country has to be a superpower.

I spoke to a young Turk in 1997. He was about thirty. He said he remembered Mosques as a child in his region. They were dusty looking run down places, where a couple of old men hung out and no one took them too serious when he was a kid. By the time he was in his twenties, these same Mosques were packed with young men who were very excited about how the religion of Islam seemed to be waking up from a long sleep, and the potential impact they thought this would have on the world. He spoke of a new movement people were calling the Taliban. That was the first time I'd heard that word.

I've noticed that many of the Mosques that were built around that time here in America were about one quarter full at Friday midday prayer time in the 90s. Now many of those same Mosques offer two Friday midday prayers that are both over crowded.

I don't see the excitement for faith in God to be in any way a negative. There are many positive developments coming out of this all over the world. However, to assume that the world's political movements will continue to develop lippity lopping along in the same fashion it always has, does not seem wise to me. My guess is that the first time there is a region on the Earth that looks like a viable place for a Caliphate to take hold it will recieve massive support. Pick me a spot Tim?

My crystal ball says to keep an eye on Pakistan and that ten years is oodles of time.
