ElM, they should be able to determine whether it was a mine full of fertilizer and diesel fuel or a nukular bomb by the pressure waves propagated through the ground [if not from some neutrons or other escapees from the explosion].

A diesel bomb would propagate slowly through the mass and even with LOTS of simultaneous ignition points in the mass, the pressure buildup would be gradual compared with a nuclear bomb which goes critical and goes bang in a very short time.

So, the strain measured by a transducer somewhere else would show a gradually increasing compression of the ground compared with the sudden increase that would occur with the nuke.

The USA will know a LOT from the seismic effects. They will have been listening carefully, knowing that an explosion was imminent.

Their computers will hum and spit out the exact nature of the explosion, including the ratio of dynamite to uranium and how much plutonium was included and how many neutrons were produced and so on, what sort of trigger was used.

South Korea isn't far away so they could measure exactly where when, how deep and all the rest.

There is no way that the North Koreans would be so stupid as to explode some diesel and fertilizer. That would make them the laughing stock. I have got good antennae for wayo and I think the USA can laugh it off as a dynamite effort, thereby ignoring North Korea and making Kim stamp his feet with anger, demanding to be let into the nuclear club. "Sorry mate, real bombs only". The USA knows it was real, but treats it as fake.
