The new LG phone is not 1x. It's just another lower priced cdmaOne phone. If you read the FAQ on Sprint's website you'll see that they are not suggesting that people rush out and buy 1x phones when they become available later this year. They make the point very clearly that 1x will be for those that need the newer data services. All others will be fine with cdmaOne. - This doesn't make much sense to me either, but that's the feeling I got from reading their FAQs. The only thing I can come with is Sprints desire to keep phone prices down so they can limit their rebate programs.
