Letting land lay fallow is a time-honored farming technique that lets soil recover. The land is not just a tool for profit by short-sighted farmers. It is all the planet has to produce fruits and vegetables. If farmers are so selfish that they destroy the soil to maximize their profits, we have nothing. Farming practices need to be regulated to some degree to assure that erosion doesn't destroy life for everyone. Where is that 1/8th Indian in you who reveres Mother Nature and lives in harmony?
