ISDN uses what is called an Inverse multiplexer and this also referred to as "bonding". Inverse multiplexing takes for example a 128kbps signal and divides it into channels. At the other end an Inverse Demutiplexor reassembles the streams into the original data stream.

Do you know if the "new chip" is pin compatable with existing products?
