Americans For Democratic Action Lifetime rating 92%

Ah, well, okay. I gather you consider the ADA a "far left" group, Tim. Is that correct? If so, that's definitely where we disagree. In fact, as I read through this list, I don't see any group that could reasonably be called "far left" doing the rating.

The conservative groups don't like him; the liberal groups do. Hardly a definition of a "far leftie."

As for anything further on Kerry, one of your points of reference was that he was further to the left than Bush was to the right. My attempt to step aside from that debate was that it entailed stipulating a center we could agree on, then lining up various policies that placed Bush to the obvious right of that and Kerry to the obvious and further left. We could easily agree on the direction but I don't see how we could agree on the center or the degree of separation from the center. Nor do I see how such a discussion helps either of us.

Well, perhaps Karen Holt who clearly loves this sort of talk.

But I'm not terribly interested in that exercise. Both are on the downslope as political actors so we aren't discussing possible 08 candidates. Kerry has more interest because he may run for the senate again. But Bush is weak and moving rapidly into his weakest period, structurally.

As for Gore, we tend to agree. Good. I like that.
